So work has sent me to my lovely school CMU in Pittsburgh. SWE (Society of Women Engineers) has a CMU Chapter for undergrad and graduate students. Work wanted me to talk about my life as a "woman engineer" and all my hard work in being where I am today. So that sounds kinda cool. I love helping people and always wanted to be a teacher if the college thing didn't work out. ;)
Oh yea...did I mention this SWE event falled on April 17th??? That is for my freakin' birthday?
I am a good dedicated devout employee.
Been here since Saturday. This is actually draining. That is across talking to faculty, interviewing new blood...I mean students, and visiting Pittsburgh now as a working professional - Pittsburgh is kinda fun. A bit oxymoron-ish - Pittsburgh fun. So I have been so busy there was no time to run. And the SWE event went fantastically. They are like sponges and I really felt my colleague and I eased some of their questions and concerns about working in a male dominated field. I was happy.
So, the highlight of the work trip besides walking down memory lane was the Monteray Bay Fish Grotto. It is a super fancy restaurant that I could never afford while being a so poor student at CMU! I always only heard about it, so I figured I must go there for my birthday dinner if there's time...so I did! It has a spectactular view of downtown Pittsburgh and Three Rivers. I had Alaskan Halibut(sp?) cheeks! That's head cheeks, not butt cheeks! ;) They were huge and so yummy. My birthday cake was a slice of key lime pie. So yummy!
No running yet. In fact no working out at all other than going to the gym once a week to meet my trainer Rafael. I am soooo bad, but I promise to run soon!
